Jupiter in Sagittarius

In the Vedic (sidereal) zodiac, Jupiter is in the sign of Sagittarius through December of 2008. Jupiter is the traditional ruler of this sign, so this is a strong position for him, the teacher/priest of the Gods.
Sagittarius is the sign of the half- man, half horse archer. The horse half gives him swiftness and strength, while the man half gives him wisdom and discernment. He needs both to do his duty, his dharma, as Sagittarius is the sign of Dharma, the ninth house of the natural zodiac.
He aims his arrow at the Galactic center, the source of all existence. From this point in the galaxy emerges the negative energies that were created at the time of the Big Bang. These are known as Klipot in Kabalistic terminology.
In the system of Nakshatras (Vedic lunar mansions) this point in the sky is called Mula or root. The Vedic Rishis (Seers) seemed to know that the galactic center was located here, thousands of years before modern astronomy existed!
This Nakshatra is ruled by Nirriti, Nir meaning "without", and rta meaning "universal law". Her husband's name is Adharma, not dharma, or not following Divine Law. Her sons names are Bhaya (fear) Mahabhaya (great fear) and Antaka (death causing). So we see that fear is created when we stray from what is Right, and what is True, which is Universal Law. This leaving of our path not only creates negative cycles of events based on fear, but can result in soul-level death and eventual dissolution.
Sagittarius is the spiritual warrior, the protector, who keeps his eye and bow trained at this point to disintegrate these demonic forces who work against universal law before they can act. These forces exist inside us as our own deep fears which create greed, jealousy, and conflict with others.
With Jupiter in Sagittarius, 2008 is an optimum time to face and dissolve the negative spirits that exist inside ourselves. These often take form as those past karmas that trigger old, worn out coping mechanisms that keep us embroiled in the same old stories that we create and recreate. Sagittarius, the sign of dharma, gives us the strength to fearlessly face our shadow side, and the fiery weapon to burn up the negativity so that we can progress in our spiritual lives.
